ABOUT US

ESTIA is a Creative Home and Artistic Ecosystem that aspires to create space and opportunities for artists of all mediums to share their work, amplify their storytelling, facilitate conversations and engage in educational programming.

OUR MISSION

ESTIA Creative Home is an ecosystem of the arts that fosters collaboration between artists from all disciplines and connects them to new audiences by producing performance and educational opportunities. ESTIA being named after the Ancient Greek Goddess of the home and "ecos" translating to home, there's a heavy emphasis in finding a sense of belonging in a literal and metaphorical aspect facilitated through our programming. Artists are called to investigate their own perception of home. We encourage them to explore how bodies of work function as archives storing information which guides them to reimagine their futures both individually and communally.

ESTIA events are rooted in sustainability and community and include festivals, variety shows, classes and workshops. They are an ecosystem of reciprocity. The circular pattern includes the ESTIA team sourcing funding to support artists when they show and practice their art. Artists then employ collaborators and present a meaningful body of work that gives back to the community. ESTIA has no limitations in the art forms it presents and completely dismantles any hierarchy, systematically placed on what art forms carry more value than others.

OUR COMPANY

ESTIA Creative Home was founded in the Spring of 2022 by Lydia Perakis and Lola Selsky. We are an artist-led registered LLC in New York State and fiscally sponsored by New York Live Arts.

WHY ESTIA?

Estia (Ἑστία) was the Ancient Greek goddess of the home. In its Greek translation it is a place where you keep a fire burning. Its meaning has played a pivotal role in Lydia’s personal artistic practice. She immigrated to NYC from Crete, Greece right before turning 18 and had to learn how to cultivate a sense of home within her body first and within her newly found community later on. The process of creating a source within one’s body that keeps a familiar fire burning is commonly found within the immigrant experience and is what inspired the founding of ESTIA Creative Home.

ESTIA Creative Home's programming and artistic engagement creates interdisciplinary art and performance opportunities that amplify diverse storytelling and offer a sense of belonging to both artists and audiences. We welcome creatives from all disciplines and invite them to investigate their own connection and perception of home. Artists explore how bodies of work function as archives storing information from the past and how that information guides them to reimagine their futures; individually and communally. ESTIA Creative Home has no limitations in the art forms it presents and dismantles hierarchy systematically placed on what art forms carry more value than others.
